Chicago gay pride or rather colloquially known as Chicago gay pride parade is a unique parade featuring only gay community. This annual parade is held in the month of June on its last Sunday in Chicago in the United States of America. It is regarded as the conclusion to the larger Months for Gay Pride, as propagated by the mayor of Chicago and the Chicago city council.
The first Chicago Gay parade was prearranged on a Saturday, June 27, in 1970, as a rally staring from the Washington Square Park to Water House at the junction of Chicago and Michigan avenues. This was the preplanned route, but then many participants spontaneously chose to march on to the civic centre plaza. At the present day, the procession takes the route through the Lake View East. The recent parades commence at noon on Halsted street advance north from Belmont Avenue go by the center at Halsted at the Waveland Avenue; take south direction on the Broadway to Diversey Parkway and to the east on the Diversey Parkway to the Cannon Drive.

Since individual donors are on a hike, the politicians of Illinois have improved their attendance at the Chicago Gay Pride Parade. The Illinois Republican and Democratic Parties both have profoundly been represented, most markedly by Rod Blagojevich, the former governor. He was a Democrat and a former treasurer. Another popular figure, Judy Baar Topinka, who was a Republican, was also present there. They both had very strong support form both the gay and lesbian voters.

The 39th annual parade was held in 2008. The parade in 2005 saw 250 entries. However, it was attended by more than 400,000 spectators. The number increased to a great lot in the next 4 years when on June 28, 2009 saw over 500,000 spectators were present at the 40th annual Gay Pride Parade. Amongst the performers were numerous marching bands, twirlers, dance groups and many eminent political personalities. The weather during the time of the parade is generally warm and dry, reason being it being held on the last week of the month of June. The 1978 parade was the wettest one with a rainfall amounting to .92 inches. The temperature ranges from 83 degrees being the highest and 61 being the average low. The hottest parade was in 1983 when the temperature rose to 99 degrees.
